President Bush touted new deficit figures Tuesday showing a better picture than predicted earlier by the administration, trumpeting it as validation of his tax cuts. Budget numbers show the deficit for the federal fiscal year ending Sept. 30 will be $296 billion much better than the $423 billion that forecast in February.
